The Ongoing Dee Hart Saga Pt One Zillion and One: Orlando Sentinel Joins In

You have to give Dee Hart credit. He hasn’t let recruiting interfere with his personality. And that is a good thing.

Chris Hayes of the Orlanado Sentinel wrote an article today that stated;

[Dee] said via text Wednesday morning that he is “leaning toward Alabama” and may not wait until Friday.

TomVH and others close(r) to the situation are being tight-lipped, and rightfully so as it allows a recruit, especially such a big one as Hart, the proper announcement he deserves. I’ve been somewhat cryptic in my posts, though not nearly as good as Tom and others have been.

But there’s something you can take away from all of this, and it goes to the heart of the (no pun intended, god that’s bad) whole recruitment of Hart: nice guy who likes to have a good time. He’s got a great personality, much like our starting quarterback. Remember Hart eliminated Michigan about 5 months ago? And he was going to Auburn 3 months ago? And so on and so on?

Michigan fans have worn their heart on their sleeve for a long time with Hart, and it’s only a few days away from his announcement now. So yeah, when the Orlando Sentinel’s recruiting coverage coordinator says Dee Hart might commit to Bama tomorrow, I can understand the freakout.

But I can only understand it if you freaked out when he stopped considering Michigan last year, when he was “basically” committed to Auburn a few months ago, or when he “almost committed” to Auburn following his visit (only to remove them a few days later).

Look – that’s why these threads have been called “The Ongoing Dee Hart Saga” – in its own way it does reflect the stance he’s taken with the media throughout most of his recruitment, and the reaction Michigan fans have had. It’s a saga, in a fun, playful way, because what the hell is the fun of just knowing you’re getting an extremely talented running back? There is something so much more rewarding to it.

Dee Hart is a great runner and a great personality. Instead of everybody looking at him as a foregone conclusion on this team, he deserves everyone to try to take time out of their day to scour the internet, try to find a broadcast of the press conference, etc. on Friday. Because that’s when he’s announcing, and a guy this talented deserves your attention. So, find something to occupy your time until then. Yes, I know it’s easy for those who already might know to say, but for the most part those who are sitting on information bombs are letting Dee announce properly. And that’s a good thing. So Chris Hays, Lloyd Carr, Nick Saban, Jesus, whoever else can tell me what they want over the next 2 days. And Dee probably hopes they will, because that’s just the way this recruitment has always been.

Somewhere Dee Hart is smiling.
